In 1958, the Museum of Socialist Construction was opened in the city of Madan, which in the 1980s was renamed the “Museum of Mining and Ore Extraction”. Until 2001, it was owned by the mining enterprise “Gorubso – Madan”, and in 2002, the mining enterprise donated all exhibits and equipment to the museum of the municipality of Madan free of charge. The Museum presents the history of mining from the past to the present through rich photographic material and various exhibits. It is the only one of its kind in the whole of Southern and Eastern Bulgaria.
