The municipality of Madan is located in the eastern part of the Western Rhodopes, also known as the Middle Rhodopes. The territory of the municipality of Madan is part of the Rilo-Rhodope. The highly dissected and deeply incised hydrographic network rapidly drains the terrain. The relief in the municipality is semi-mountainous and mountainous with a marked erosion-denudation character. Low-mountain and hilly terrains predominate, and the valley slopes have significant slopes.
The “Spoluka” deposit is located in the immediate vicinity of the town of Madan /northeast of it/ on the right slope of the Madanska River.
